The Vancouver Canucks host the Detroit Red Wings tonight for their lone game of the season at Rogers Arena.

Now situated in the Eastern Conference the Red Wings will only play the Canucks twice this year, but have been given an early chance to renew acquaintances tonight in Vancouver.

Power Trio

The Vancouver Canucks have used Henrik Sedin, Daniel Sedin, and Ryan Kesler together with great success so far this season, and the team will need the talented trio to produce once again tonight at Rogers Arena.

Daniel Sedin rides a four-game point streak into tonight’s action, look for him and Livonia, Michigan native Ryan Kesler to have a solid game again tonight along with their captain.

Ryan Kesler carries a four-game goal streak into tonight's contest.

No State Like Home

Ryan Kesler carries a four-game goal streak into tonight’s action and should be all over the ice against Michigan’s own Detroit Red Wings.

Kesler, a Livonia, Michigan native, always seems to elevate his play against the team hailing from his home state, and tonight’s contest promises to be another exciting affair.

Starting Strong

The Canucks have struggled to start games strong this season and will need to come flying out of the gates against the talented Red Wings tonight at Rogers Arena.

The Red Wings have scored 12 of their 27 goals this year during the opening frame and will be looking to take the crowd out of tonight’s contest early after waiting three days in Vancouver.

Dynamic Duo

While John Tortorella made big news in Vancouver by splitting up the Sedin twins, Mike Babcock continues to experiment with his lines and is expected to keep Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg apart for tonight’s game against the Canucks.

Datsyuk and Zetterberg were split up for Saturday’s game against the Rangers and can be expected to give the Red Wings a balanced attack tonight against a shallow Canucks team. Watch for both talented skaters to break free while away from the Sedin twins tonight in Vancouver.

The Golden 1

Roberto Luongo will be looking to ice an Olympic-calibre performance tonight opposite the Red Wings and Team Canada head coach Mike Babcock.

Babcock was in Vancouver on Monday to scout the game between the Canucks and Capitals, but will be hoping his team can do a better job of getting to Luongo tonight.

While Thomas Holmstrom is long gone Luongo can expect a healthy amount of traffic crossing through his crease again tonight against the pesky Red Wings.
